A Message From the Principal Scott Schmiesing

 Dear Parents, Students, and Parishoners:

I am honored to be able to take this opportunity to briefly introduce myself. I have   spent the last six years at the Parkview School District located in Orfordville as an  assistant principal, athletic director, and teacher. Previous to that, I taught business, was the AD, and coached basketball and volleyball at Juda for eleven years. My wife, Barb, and I currently live in Brodhead and are looking to move to Cross Plains as soon as we can sell our house. We have five children, Justin 8, Celine 7, Addy 5, Brent 3, and Joe 1. As some of you know, I am originally from Minnesota, so you will still have to put up with a principal that is a Vikings fan. Father Tom had joked at the golf outing that it was a prerequisite to be a Vikings fan and a golfer of which I try to get nine holes in each week. My wife and I are very impressed with the St. Francis Xavier School and the community of Cross Plains. We look forward to getting settled in and learning more about the community.

As an elementary Catholic principal, I realize the education of children is a difficult job, and cannot be accomplished without the assistance of parents and the parish. I encourage parents and concerned parishioners to be active participants in the education of our students. There are many ways to participate in the education of our students. The easiest way, however, is to maintain effective lines of communication. If you have any concerns or would just like to visit, please feel free to stop by the school or call the school office. Lastly, I would like to encourage parents to set high expectations for their children concerning school. Insist that your child puts forth their best effort in academics, behaves appropriately, and attends school regularly. When school and home have shared expectations, students will achieve at a higher level.

In closing, I would like to thank the staff, Fr. Tom and the St. Francis Xavier community for giving me this opportunity. I will work diligently to continue to provide an excellent Catholic educational experience for the students of St. Francis Xavier School.

Sincerely Yours,

Scott Schmiesing

Principal
